chi’s founding

"Fourteen enthusiastic women of the University bands became the first Buckeye Band Girls when they organized to assist in campus band activities in October 1949. They instantly became active holding receptions following football games, serving as guides and hostesses at music clinics and helping Kappa Kappa Psi with decorations for the annual band formal.

Later that school year, they received their national sorority charter and were installed as the Chi Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, April 29, 1950. Mrs. William Revelli from Tau Beta Sigma at the University of M*ch*g*n installed the chapter during the gathering of the annual Intercollegiate Band at Bowling Green State University. Professor Jack Evans served as the first faculty adviser continuing until his retirement in 1974."

The Bull

The Bull was allegedly given to Chi at its' installation by the Lambda Chapter of the University of *ichigan. The Bull is decorated with accessories such as pins, keychains and necklaces that each have a special meaning surrounding band and our sisters. He travels with sisters to District and National events such as North Central District Convention and the National Convention. Chi also has a smaller version of the Bull that sisters pass around week to week and journal about their time together. To see all the fun, follow the Bull's adventures on his Instagram @the_bull_of_chi.
